The John and Joanne Diederich Advisory Fund was created to support the Diederich Family’s philanthropic objectives.

John Diederich is a lifelong Auroran and a 1987 graduate of Marmion Military Academy.

He started his career at Copley Memorial Hospital in Aurora as a teenager in the kitchen in 1985. He now has achieved the position of President & CEO of the Rush Copley Medical Center.

In 1991, Mr. Diederich earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Iowa.  Two years later, he received his master of arts degree in hospital and health administration and his master of business administration degree, also from the University of Iowa.

He currently is chairman of the Board of the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley and a member of the Marmion Academy Board of Trustees.

Mr. Diederich also served as past chairman of the Board of the Aurora Regional Chamber of Commerce and is a past Board member of the Aurora Economic Development Commission and the Kiwanis Club of Aurora.

Joanne Diederich is also a lifelong Auroran.  She is a 1989 graduate of Rosary High School.

She received her bachelor of science degree in nursing from Aurora University.

Joanne volunteers for multiple Aurora organizations and non-profit organizations including the Aurora Area Interfaith Food Pantry, Holy Angels School, Marmion Academy, Paramount Theatre, Rosary High School and the Rush Copley Foundation.

The Diederichs have three boys – Jack, Dominic and Matthew.

We chose the Community Foundation because of its reputation. It’s well known, established and we can trust them to do the job for us.

Thank you very much for supporting my college education for these four years. I will never be able to repay you for the opportunity that this scholarship has given to me.

…you can always start small, even $25 can make a difference. Remember we can’t take our money with us. Even if it’s just your gift of time. Volunteer and get involved.

A community foundation is a donor-driven organization that helps donors custom-design funds that reflect their charitable interests. Through the years, grants from these funds have made a significant impact on our local communities.

Sharon Stredde

President Emeritus

There’s no question in my mind that the scholarship I received opened up possibilities.

Marianne Renner

Past Scholarship Recipient & Current Leadership Coach

As a first-generation college student from a low-income family, I was worried about how I was going to pay for books and supplies. This scholarship will allow me to focus more on my studies instead of worrying about how to afford college. I am working to not only create opportunities for myself but to motivate future generations. Thank you so much for helping me along this journey!
