Geneva Academic Foundation Viking Voyage to Excellence Fund

Established 2017

The Geneva Academic Foundation (GAF) is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that raises money each year to fund grants for the purchase of equipment, tools, programs, and services for our teachers and classrooms throughout the Geneva Community School District #304 (grades K-12), as well as two annual scholarships for graduating Seniors from Geneva High School.   The grants funded each year must enhance the educational experience of the students in District #304.

GAF has awarded over $1.3M in grants since the founding of the GAF in 1987.  Grants have been given for GTV television studio equipment in Geneva High School, heart-rate monitors for the elementary school P. E. classes, multiple classroom Smartboards and standing desks, computers, software, document cameras, Starlab, microscopes, skeletons, books, reading aids, and many other items.

Donations to the Endowment Fund may be given as a one-time contribution (preferred) or as a contribution over a three-year time period.* Donations of any amount are appreciated, but donors at certain levels will be recognized with a brass emblem engraved with their name and donation level on a permanent 7′ x 10′ model Viking Ship display in the main hall of Geneva High School.

For donations at the Odin and Valhalla levels ($9,000 or greater), the donor will be recognized with a Viking Shield located on the side of the ship. For donations at the Thor and Valkyrie levels ($3000 or greater, but less than $9,000), donors will be recognized with a 4″ engraved Viking helmet located in the walnut field surrounding the ship. For donations at the Freya, Explorer, and Voyager levels ($300 or greater, but less than $3,000), donors will be recognized with a 3″ engraved Viking helmet located in the walnut field surrounding the ship.

As a first-generation college student from a low-income family, I was worried about how I was going to pay for books and supplies. This scholarship will allow me to focus more on my studies instead of worrying about how to afford college. I am working to not only create opportunities for myself but to motivate future generations. Thank you so much for helping me along this journey!

A community foundation is a donor-driven organization that helps donors custom-design funds that reflect their charitable interests. Through the years, grants from these funds have made a significant impact on our local communities.

…you can always start small, even $25 can make a difference. Remember we can’t take our money with us. Even if it’s just your gift of time. Volunteer and get involved.
