Ecker Center Roof Work To Begin

April 3, 2017-    Work is scheduled to begin this month to replace the roof at the Ecker Center for Mental Health, 1845 Grandstand Place in Elgin.  Lindholm Roofing, Inc. based in Elmhurst will be the contractor on the project.

“Most of our outpatient services are housed in this building.  Over the last five years, we’ve had numerous shingles detach from the roof during high winds culminating in persistent leaks.  Various sections of the roof have been patched but the integrity of the roof is now beyond patching,” said Karen Beyer, CEO of Ecker Center.

Funding for the project is being provided in part by three area entities:  The Alfred Bersted Foundation ($20,000); Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley ($10,000); and Hanover Township Mental Health Board ($5,000).

“We are grateful for the financial support and anticipated improvements.  Upon completion, we will have a new roof with 5-star coverage including a 25-year workmanship warranty, a 50-year material warranty, and a much improved physical plant,” Beyer said.

Founded in 1955, the Ecker Center is a non-profit outpatient community mental health center that provides comprehensive behavioral health services to people with moderate to severe mental illnesses Included among those services are psychiatry; nursing; psychosocial rehabilitation; crisis assessment and intervention; intensive crisis, individual and group therapy; case management and crisis, supervised, supported and subsidized residential services. All of the Center’s programs serve adults but our psychiatry, therapy and psychiatric emergency programs also serve children and adolescents to approximately 4,000 individuals annually.Release as sent.

As a first-generation college student from a low-income family, I was worried about how I was going to pay for books and supplies. This scholarship will allow me to focus more on my studies instead of worrying about how to afford college. I am working to not only create opportunities for myself but to motivate future generations. Thank you so much for helping me along this journey!

A community foundation is a donor-driven organization that helps donors custom-design funds that reflect their charitable interests. Through the years, grants from these funds have made a significant impact on our local communities.
