The Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley approved a $10,000 grant to the Fox Valley Orchestra for instruments and equipment to be used with its multiple programs, including The Fox Valley Orchestra, Fox Valley Orchestra Chorus, Fox Valley Youth Orchestra, Fox Valley Youth Chorus, The Fox Valley Brass Band, and the Fox Valley El Sistema program.
The funds received from the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley will be used to acquire a conductor’s podium, used chorus risers from a local school, and several percussion instruments. All of the Fox Valley Orchestra programs share in the organization’s mission to provide fine musical performances for all people and educational opportunities for all youth, such as the orchestra’s Fox Valley El Sistema program. This program, which is grant and donor funded, provides nearly 800 underserved students from 15 Aurora Middle and Elementary schools with free instruction and instruments, which they use for practice throughout the year and performances each semester for parents and community members.
“We are grateful to the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley for their $10,000 grant that will allow us to continue providing excellent cultural and educational experiences to our community,” said Jonathan Hauser, President of the Fox Valley Orchestra. Julie Christman, Director of Community Involvement and Partnerships with the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley, stated” The Fox Valley Orchestra adds tremendous value to our community. We are excited to partner with them in their efforts to promote music to all students, regardless of their ability to pay for programs. It is wonderful to witness the students be so full of pride in their newly formed skills, and the teachers, who are extremely qualified and caring, share their love of music.”
The Fox Valley Orchestra began in 2010 as a response to a need for high quality classical music in the Aurora area and surrounding communities. The FVO’s mission is to provide fine musical performances for people of all ages and educational opportunities for youth.
