We are profoundly saddened by the passing of our dear friend and colleague, Anne S. Goldsmith.
Mrs. Goldsmith, who died on May 1, 2009, had been a director of the Community Foundation since 2000.
Born in Chicago, she moved to the Aurora community after her marriage to Aurora Attorney Zalmon Goldsmith (1915-2009).
Throughout her lifetime, Mrs. Goldsmith was an active civic leader in the Fox Valley.
As a founding member of the Paramount Arts Centre Endowment (PACE), she helped to raise $2 million for the support of the beautiful art deco Paramount Theatre which opened in downtown Aurora in 1931.
Mrs. Goldsmith had served as president and chairman of the board of PACE since its inception in 1983.
She also was a member of the American Association of University Women, United Way of Aurora and the Temple B’nai Israel Sisterhood.
Mrs. Goldsmith’s family has requested that those who wish to honor her life may make a memorial gift to the Paramount Arts Centre Endowment Fund within the Community Foundation.
