A bequest from the estate of Roy E. Davis was received in 1979 for scholarships to graduates of East Aurora High School.
In 2001, the Foundation established the fund as an endowment to ensure ongoing recognition of his generosity.
Roy Davis (1889-1979) was the athletic director and coach of East Aurora High School for forty-three years.
He joined East Aurora in 1913 as a science teacher and later co-authored a high school biology textbook with his brother Ira.
Mr. Davis served on the boards of the Edna Smith Home and the American Red Cross.
He also was a member of the Community Foundation’s Scholarship Committee for over fifteen years. The athletic field at East Aurora High School was named in his honor.
