The Free Clinic Announces Continued Support During Tough Economic Times
As the only free medical clinic in central Kane County, Tri City Health Partnership continues to receive support from local organizations that join in the mission in serving local residents who are struggling. Shannon Watson, Executive Director states, “In these tough economic times, we are more appreciative than ever of the continued support that enables us to operate the clinic and provide quality medical care to those who cannot pay for services.
Most recently, Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley awarded $4,975.00 to TCHP for the purchase of a new phone system. Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley has been a clinic supporter since 2005 contributing a total of $17,425 in support for office and medical equipment. Since 2001, the Dellora A. and Lester J. Norris Foundation has contributed $245,000 to the mission of TCHP. The Norris Foundation provided the seed money to establish the free clinic. A contributor since 2005, The Alfred Bersted Foundation has provided $100,000 in grants to TCHP, awarding $20,000 to the free medical clinic in July of 2010. BlueCross BlueShield of Illinois granted $10,000 to TCHP in July, bringing total support in the past seven years to $65,000. The Walter and Edith Best Foundation has granted a total of $17,000 since 2004, for children who initially visit the clinic in need of acute care. The Evelyn C. Carter Foundation recently granted $15,000 to TCHP. They have been a contributor since 2004, granting a total of $43,500. The Dreyer Community Health Fund (Advocate Health Care) provided a grant of $5,000 in April of 2010, bringing the total contribution since 2003 to $12,500. Since 2003, The Delnor Foundation has championed the cause of the free clinic contributing $165,000 in total support. Also a long time supporter, The VNA Foundation has granted a total of $125,000 to TCHP since 2003.
Along with the tremendous support from the foundations and trusts, the clinic continues to receive funding from: 708 Boards, local service organizations, clubs, churches, townships, private charity events, the Batavia United Way, Geneva Community Chest, and private citizens. “Every donation is acknowledged with deep appreciation and utilized with careful stewardship. Since 2001, the clinic has provided 12,230 doctor visits for local residents. Without the medical professionals who volunteer and the financial support from funders, many would go without medications and care and ultimately end up in the emergency room. This type of situation affects the entire community. We remain grateful for the support from this gracious community and are prepared to provide our services for years to come.”
